Lake District Hotels owns and operates a portfolio of exclusive and beautiful hotels within the Lake District National Park, the Skiddaw is one of six hotels. The hotel group prides itself on providing friendly hospitality coupled with traditional values in exceptional facilities.

The Skiddaw hotel is set in the picturesque market town of Keswick. The hotel has 43 bedrooms which includes several large family suites.

FWP have worked with Lake District Hotels for over a decade transforming their hotel bedrooms and public spaces into contemporary spaces. In February 2020, FWP interiors transformed the full ground floor at The Skiddaw, which has completely modernised the look of the hotel with a comfortable contemporary style. The refurbishment includes the ground floor public areas, including the conservatory, bar, reception, restaurant and function room.

Throughout the hotel, custom made carpets, tailored to suit the colour scheme of each room have been used. The main entrance has been restyled with new doors, designed to fill the reception with natural light. A pewter and champagne geometric design features on the walls with a contrasting feature wall, while the reception desk has been replaced with an American black walnut desk with brass detailing, making the space feel more welcoming for guests and functional for the hotel.

The bar lounge has been designed to feel comfortable and warm, featuring splashes of golds, champagne and mink velvets, while the original Keswick photos have been retained and rehung in clusters, forming little pockets of local interest. The connecting conservatory is intended as a show stopper, with ochre and gold botanical wallpaper and feature lights, designed to draw attention from the Market Square.

The dining room is the heart and soul of the hotel, as the place where guests start and end each day, it’s the hub of the overall guest experience. Renamed ‘Brasserie 31’, the restaurant is light and airy, with a feature wall made up of handmade, antique mirror tiles set in timber panels, with seating booths covered in plush green Monte & Jardin Jacquard velvets. Artwork by Northern artist Patricia Haskey feature Derwentwater and Skiddaw in complimentary colours.
