Mike’s Contribution to FWP is Recognised with New Associate Role
Architectural Technologist Mike Turner has been promoted to Associate at leading architecture, design and masterplanning practice FWP.
The promotion comes as the award-winning multi-disciplinary practice is seeing increasing work across all sectors and is involved in a growing number of landmark projects in its native North West and across the UK.
Mike, who has been a member of the FWP team for 12 years, leads and manages construction projects for the Preston headquartered business.
He specialises in using Building Information Modelling (BIM) design software, ensuring compliance, and balancing the technical and aesthetic aspects of design.
His approach aligns with FWP’s values, emphasising enhanced communication and productivity, supported by a multi-disciplinary team of in-house engineers and surveyors.
One of his standout projects is the Royal Preston Hospital’s Birth Centre. Not only was it an innovative project, but it also holds personal significance as it’s the place where his daughter was born, two years after its completion.

Mike, who comes from a family of builders, said: “FWP’s wide portfolio of work has allowed me to become part of a close-knit team with a fantastic record of project delivery across several sectors and disciplines.

FWP, which also has offices in Manchester and London, is well-known for sports stadia and healthcare design work, though its portfolio is much wider and ranges from heritage projects to leisure developments.
The firm is involved in a host of multi-million-pound health, sports, leisure and cultural projects for a range of clients including the NHS and local authorities. They include the sensitive restoration of Rochdale’s historic town hall.
FWP’s plans for the £7.4million transformation of Amounderness House – Preston’s Grade II-listed former magistrates’ court – were approved by city council planners earlier this month (November).
It is working on the Preston City Council project to convert the historic building, which has stood empty for more than 20 years, into a modern, flexible workspace hub.
Work is also set to start on the multi-million pound conversion of a historic magistrates’ court in Ormskirk to create a five-star aparthotel designed by FWP.
The development will see the transformation of the building into the stylish Ormskirk Court Hotel, with 23 premium apartments, extensive landscaping, and new car park facilities.
And a stylish multi-million pound upmarket rural holiday retreat on a former golf course near Preston, created by FWP, has also been approved by planners.
The site in the village of Goosnargh will now be totally transformed into a high-end tourism destination with a range of luxury lodge accommodation and visitor attractions.
